El Sr. Peabody és inventor, científic, guanyador del Premi Nobel, gurmet, medallista olímpic en dues ocasions i geni. A més d'això, és un gos... un gos que ha adoptat un nen humà. Usant el seu invent més enginyós, una màquina per viatjar en el temps, el senyor Peabody i el seu fill Sherman poden conèixer de primera mà els esdeveniments que han canviat el món. Però quan Sherman trenca les regles del viatge en el temps, tots dos herois hauran de reparar la història i salvar el futur.
