This film noir tends to stay within very conventional plot lines, as the narration by the main protagonist, private detective Eugene Tarpon Jean-François Balmer, recites a dreary litany of how he wanted to chuck his profession until an attractive woman shows up asking him to investigate the murder of her roommate, a porno star. Soon Tarpon is up to his neck in trouble: the police, gangsters, and the victim's lover are all out to get him.

Hoping to make a fresh start, Léo, a jazz musician, takes up temporary residence with his friend Bony, a young writer who is struggling to get his work published. One evening, Léo strikes up an acquaintance with a woman taxi driver, Cora; in spite of her impulsive and moody temperament, he cannot help being attracted to her. On the spur of the moment, Cora invites Léo to make love to her. When Bony meets Cora, he too finds her irresistible, but he lacks Léo’s self-confidence to make his move. Cora is not a woman that any man can possess readily. She is like a wild animal, a creature that revels in its freedom. Will either Léo or Bony be able to tame her...?

Thomas, a specialist at breaking and entering, gets out of jail after nine months and finds another man in bed with his girl. In the next 24 hours, he seduces one woman, steals her bracelet, and gives it to another in exchange for felatio. Soon after, he sets eyes on Léa; at first she's just another challenge. She dismisses him, but he's persistent. Finally she decides to love him, but warns him that she's hard to get but harder to get rid of. When he does decide to leave her, she is devastated, but so, it appears, is he, and back he comes. Now all seems wonderful, but his past, in the form of the woman whose bracelet he stole, comes back to haunt him. How will Léa handle it?
