Joaquín Gaztambide’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream was first performed at the Teatro del Circo in 1852. Participating in the revival of this comic opera are Miguel Ángel Gómez-Martínez, the veteran musical director, who considers Gaztambide to be “interesting, enjoyable and the holder of an extraordinary musical quality”, and Marco Carniti, the stage director, who wants to make us enjoy the beauty of a work which cheerfully veers between dream and reality. With this new production by the Teatro de la Zarzuela, the Italian stage director Davide Livermore and the British musical director Karel Mark Chichon show us a series of pictures of customs that shine through in Luisa Fernanda.

La del manojo de rosas, the Teatro de la Zarzuela's most emblematic and popular production, turns 30 years old. At its premiere in September 1990, it was very well received by the public and critics, and has continued to be so during the last three decades. Several generations of singers, artists, technicians and the public have enjoyed what is now Sorozábal's best-known zarzuela.
Considered the greatest musical success of Pablo Luna's career, this operetta was released at the end of 1923 in El Teatro de la Zarzuela. Many consider it the best of his compositions, bolstered by an inspired and amusing libretto. After its premiere, it went on to be produced in Cuba, Mexico and continued its life cycle on stage until the 1950s.
