Πριν από 300 χρόνια, τρεις αδελφές μάγισσες καταδικάστηκαν σε θάνατο. Απόψε είναι η βραδιά των Αποκριών και, χάρη σε ένα μικρό αγόρι, επιστρέφουν στη ζωή πάνω στις... ηλεκτρικές τους σκούπες!

Η πρώτη μέρα του Φρέντι στη νέα του δουλειά σε μια αποθήκη φαρμάκων εξελίσσεται σε εφιάλτη, όταν από λάθος διαρρέει ένα επικίνδυνο αέριο με μια ανατριχιαστική ιδιότητα: να ανασταίνει νεκρούς. Σύντομα, το αέριο θα εξαπλωθεί στην περιοχή και στο νεκροταφείο που βρίσκεται κοντά στην αποθήκη, όπου μια ομάδα νέων ετοιμάζεται να διοργανώσει ροκ πάρτι. Οι νεκροί θα ξυπνήσουν και θα είναι οι ανεπίσημοι καλεσμένοι της βραδιάς, πλημμυρίζοντας το πάρτι στο αίμα και τρώγοντας το αγαπημένο τους σνακ: τα ανθρώπινα μυαλά.

Ο Ash είναι ένας απλός υπαλληλάκος που μια μέρα θα κάνει ένα ταξίδι στο χώρο και στο χρόνο και θα βρεθεί σε έναν μεσαιωνικό πύργο που περιστοιχίζεται από διαβολικές δυνάμεις. Κι ενώ αρχικά περνιέται για εχθρός, σύντομα θα ανακηρυχθεί σε σωτήρα, που σύμφωνα με μια προφητεία θα εξαφανίσει το κακό.

Ο Νικ Γουόκερ, ένας μπάτσος που κατηγορείται για διαφθορά, δολοφονείται από τον συνεργάτη του κατά τη διάρκεια μιας μοιρασιάς που πάει στραβά. Πριν μισό αιώνα περίπου σε ένα ξενοδοχείο ένα αγριεμένο τσούρμο επαρχιωτών λυντσάρει έναν μελετητή του αποκρυφισμού... Σήμερα, μια νεαρή γυναίκα κληρονομεί το παλίο ξενοδοχείο, όπου μετά από μια σειρά υπερφυσικών "ατυχημάτων", μαθαίνει ότι το κτίριο χτίστικε πάνω στις εισόδους της κολάσεως.

Ένας άντρας θα λύσει ένα πανάρχαιο παζλ και θα βρεθεί στο έλεος δαιμόνων. Η πρώην του θα βρει έναν τρόπο να τον φέρει πίσω, αλλά του λείπει η σάρκα. Η ανιψιά της, η Κρίστι, θα βρει τρόπο να παζαρέψει με τους δαίμονες και θα ξεκινήσει ένα παιχνίδι θανάτου με τα θύματα να αναπληρώνουν την σάρκα του καταραμένου.

Τρία σχολιαρόπαιδα πάνω στο παιχνίδι τους εντοπίζουν ένα από τα διαφεύγοντα βαρέλια με το αέριο που στο προηγούμενο μέρος ευθύνεται για την επιστροφή των νεκρών. Άθελά τους το ανοίγουν και τα ζόμπι επιστρέφουν.

Όταν ένα νεαρό ζευγάρι παθαίνει αυτοκινητιστικό δυστύχημα που κοστίζει τη ζωή της κοπέλας, ο φίλος της την επαναφέρει στη ζωή με τη χρήση του γνωστού αερίου το οποίο ανακάλυψαν σε ένα πείραμα που εμπλεκόταν ο στρατιωτικός πατέρας του.

Μια εκδρομή στα χιόνια παίρνει απρόβλεπτη τροπή για μια παρέα φοιτητών της ιατρικής, καθώς θα βρεθούν αντιμέτωποι με μια πρωτόγνωρη απειλή: ναζί ζόμπι.
