Ophélie, a jaded teenager, passes her time cycling and working at the ice cream parlor of a quiet suburban town. When a mysterious woman on a motorcycle arrives in town, her mundane summer takes an unexpected turn.

After the tragic loss of his mother, 10-year-old Antoine tries to understand the meaning of grief that fell upon his family. Through memories and remnants she left behind, Antoine gets closer to his mother.

Late at night, a screenwriter recollects an unpleasant encounter with the receptionist of the motel he is staying at. As this memory haunts him, his thoughts blur with the story he is writing.

Following his wife’s sudden hospitalization, and the subsequent return of his step-son, John is forced to confront his wife’s worsening physical and mental condition, his own mortality, and his past falterings in fatherhood.
