Three friends, 12-year-old boys Dug, Mel, and Fatt, go camping in the desert with Dug's older brother Wyatt and his girlfriend Mary. When the group stops at a gas station, the owner Duana tells them about The Night Child, a creature she claims lives in the desert and took her younger brother twenty-five years ago. They quickly dismiss the story as an old urban legend, but once they arrive in the desert and set up camp, things get weird.
Three 12-year-old boys, including the precocious Dug, excitedly tag along with Dug’s older brother and his new girlfriend for a night of fireside camping. Their good times are rudely interrupted, though, when a local monster legend known as the “Night Child” turns out to be all too real.
As a teenager, Lee fled his hometown in the American Midwest. Six years later he returns, a strange kind of ghost seeking haunt in his mother’s basement, seeking the other who resides there—Ready, his brother. Ready’s plans for Lee and himself include a landscape business, a rock n’ roll band, a new truck, girlfriends, big bucks and late nights of high life. Getting it together.
