When she suggests to her listener Sara Jane to leave her abusive and obsessive husband Kyle Lundstrom, Sara runs away home chased by Kyle and is hit by a car, immediately dying. The psychopath Kyle decides to use his money to destroy Dr. Manners' life, and assuming the fake identity of the investor James, he meets her husband Rob and poisons her marriage

After learning that their young daughter, Emily, is suffering from leukemia, Cheryl and Greg have no choice but to seek out Cheryl's violent ex-husband, Kurt, to have him tested as a possible bone marrow donor. Cheryl is particularly disturbed about seeing Kurt again, since her testimony sent him to prison ten years earlier.

When Alice loses her baby in an act of violence, she learns she cannot have children on her own. She and her husband are overjoyed when they find a surrogate to give them the baby they've always wanted.
