On This Earth

Late 18th century. A runaway peasant earns the fame of the "Russian Icarus" when he tests his homemade wings with a daring jump from a rooftop. The excited villagers begin to scrutinize the anomalies surrounding them more closely: various holy fools, traveling performers with their strange tricks, and carriers of mysterious illnesses fall under the suspicion of old women who murmur strange tales and incite the common folk. Among the accused is Dvoynyata, who is separated from her ailing twin sister. It’s no surprise that for the young girl, the Wingless man’s flight experiments become her new fixation.
