De kranten werden gedomineerd door de oorlog in Vietnam. Voor vier jonge Aboriginal vrouwen is 1968 het jaar dat hun leven voor altijd veranderde. De zusters Gail, Julie en Cynthia worden samen met hun neef Kay ontdekt door Dave, een ongelukkige Ierse muzikant, met een voorliefde voor Ierse Whiskey en soulmuziek. Dave stuurt de meisjes naar de oorlogsgebieden in Zuid-Vietnam, waar ze klassieke soulliedjes zingen voor de Amerikaanse mariniers.

Wanneer Jarah haar man, haar kind, haar land en haar onschuld verliest, begint ze aan een meedogenloze reis van vergelding en wraak die verandert in verlossing en verzoening.
