En julafton för länge sedan fick jultomten en överraskning när han återvände till Nordpolen... ett litet barn från ett barnhem hade krypit ner i julklappssäcken. Buddy adopterades av en godhjärtad tomtenisse som uppfostrade honom i sann nisseanda. Men när man är tre gånger så stor som alla andra och usel på paketinslagning är det inte lätt att känna att man platsar i tomtenissarnas värld. För någonstans där ute finns Buddys biologiska familj och den här julen är han fast besluten att hitta dem. Men New York är en tuff stad för en kille som tror sig vara tomtenisse – alla hårdhudade människor verkar ha glömt bort den sanna meningen med julen!

Detta under överinseende av deras sponsor, oljeshejken Ben Redic Fy Fazan och hans livvakt och privatchaufför Emanuel Desperados.
