In a post-zombie apocalyptic Mexico, Gabriela wanders around Mexico City with only one goal: to find her missing boyfriend.

In a despairing, fatalistic Rome, Nicola finds himself flirting with the city’s dark side. Drinking too much and living among drifters, petty criminals and anxious immigrants, Nicola becomes entwined in an insurance scam that leads him further into a netherworld he may never escape.

The film consists almost entirely of an interview with the elderly He Fengming, recounting her experiences in post-1949 China.

Malik raises his little brother and works as a doorman.
